La tirisia
Jorge Pérez Solano : 2014
Perpetual Sadness
Cheba and Ángeles Miguel have become pregnant by the same man. They decide to resolve the dilemma of unwelcome motherhood, but their lives will always be marked by perpetual sorrow. The story takes us to a secluded village in the desert, where a political propaganda poster, ironically tells us that "the future is now". Time suffers from an unbearably quiet feeling. The aridity reigns and it goes deep into the spaces of a weary and dispirited existence. In that state of pure calm, the conflict of two psychologically abused women unfolds. They live their maternity dramatically as subjects in a fluctuating voltage between life and death. A suggestive tale reflecting the destinies of hundreds of Mexican village women who had to choose between their child and their partner in order to sustain their families. Jorge Pérez Solano's second feature premiered at Guadalajara Mexican Film Festival 2014, and received its international premiere in competition at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2014.
